Round of last 16 in Gallur

It was a very intense day in Madrid, the capital of world badminton this week. The best rackets on the planet have been playing for a spot in the quarter-finals.
No one wants to give up a single rally on the road to glory. Good proof of this are some of the matches that have been played today. High voltage duels, such as the mixed doubles between the pairs of Maluana-Marwah (Indonesia) and Thyrri-Magelund (Denmark) with victory for the Europeans by a tight 15-21 21-14 22-20, or the women’s singles of the Korean player Kim Ga Eun against Gregoria Mariska Tunjun (Indonesia) that lasted for almost an hour in which both players gave their best. In the end, it was the Indonesian player who won the match by a score of 12-21 21-14 23-21.
However, the undeniable star match of the day for the Spanish fans was the one of Clara Azurmendi, who fought in three games against the American Beiwen Zhang with a score in favour of this last player of 18-21 21-17 and 23-21. It was a shame that the Spaniard could not materialise all her efforts with a victory.
On the other hand, we must regret the withdrawal of Carolina Marin’s opponent, the Indian player Malvika Bansod, due to a bureaucratic issue. Something that has slightly spoiled the day but that will come in handy for the Spaniard to reach the quarter-finals with all the energy she can muster.
Tomorrow there will be some great matches like the one between Kidambi (India) and Nishimoto (Japan) or Mia Blichfeldt (Denmark) and Pusarla V Shindu (India).
The matches will start at 12:00h and will decide the semifinals of this Madrid Spain Masters. The tension and quality keeps on growing. Are you going to miss it?
