Madrid Spain Masters is already here
Madrid Spain Masters is already noticeable in the Spanish capital since this Thursday we lived a special day with the opening of this tournament at Plaza de Colón.
Here gathered all the institutional and commercial representatives linked to Madrid Spain Masters, such as the Sport Councillor, Sofía Miranda, the vice president of Badminton World Federation, Joao Matos, the president of Badminton Spain, Andoni Azurmendi, and the president of Badminton Madrid, Ernesto Baschwitz. In this event also took part Kike Peñalver, Spanish athlete that will participate in the tournament and Arturo Ruiz, technical manager of Badminton Spain.
The event has been full of badminton, in fact, an AirBadminton court was installed in which a dozen of young badminton players from Madrid Sports Technification Centre have shown how exciting this sport can be.
On court we could also see Sofía Miranda, who received a masterclass from Kike Peñalver and Arturo Ruiz. Besides, she was the protagonist of a doubles match in which she partnered Peñalver.
Miranda celebrated that “from Madrid local government we support these great events in our city to create a youth reserve of players and for children to be able to see their idols so in the future we can have a healthier society thanks to sport”.
On the other hand, Matos claimed that “Madrid is a perfect place to hold a tournament of the HSBC World Tour circuit” and stood out “the Badminton Spain’s ability to organise big events”.
Azurmendi also pointed out that “this is a world class tournament that will be followed in the whole planet and that will count on the participation of Olympic and world medalists. Moreover, we could also even have the chance to relive the Olympic final of Rio 2016 between Carolina Marín and Pusarla Sindhu”.
The thing is that Carolina Marín, Olympic champion, six times European champion and three times World champion, and the Indian Pusarla Sindhu, five times World medalist, are two of the greatest stars that we will enjoy seeing on court from March 28th to April 2nd at the Gallur Sports Centre.
We will also be able to see on court other world starts such as the Japanese Kenta Nishimoto and the Danish Anders Antonsen, two times world medalist.
