Carolina Marin moves into the quarter-finals of the Madrid Spain Masters without playing
Carolina Marín, top seed at the Madrid Spain Masters badminton tournament in Madrid, reached the quarter-finals of the tournament after the withdrawal of India’s player Malvika Bansod, who she should face in the round of the last 16 on Thursday.
Yesterday the player from Huelva overcame the Dane Line Højmark Kjaersfeldt in the first round of the competition, which was played at the Gallur sports centre in Madrid. Today she was supposed to play for a place in the quarter-finals against Bansod, 40th in the BWF ranking, who withdrew before the start of the match.
Her opponent in the quarter-finals will be the winner of Thursday’s match between India’s player Aakarshi Kashyap and Japan’s player Natsuki Nidaira.
